As of October 2026, subject to change. The spring 2027 maintenance dates for the Firstbahn, Eiger Express and Wengernalp Railway are not published yet. The Jungfrau Railways list them under the operating notice on the Jungfrau Travel Pass page. For comparison: in autumn 2026, the Firstbahn is closed for maintenance from 26.10. to 27.11. and the Eiger Express from 09. to 20.11.
Weather in spring
Grindelwald sits at 1034 m. In the valley, spring turns things green earlier, while higher up the snow can stay for a long time. Mountain weather is changeable at this time of year. We don't quote average temperatures, as we haven't found an official measurement series for Grindelwald. Before every outing, check the MeteoSwiss forecast and the webcams on grindelwald.swiss.
Hiking in spring: stay lower
- Zweilütschinen – Burglauenen – Grindelwald: 12.5 km, about 3 hrs 36 min, 387 m of ascent, easy. This valley hike follows the Lütschental past old village houses and fountains. Note: there's an unsupervised crossing near Burglauenen station (Interlaken tour portal).
- Trümmelbach Falls: The waterfalls inside the mountain in the Lauterbrunnen Valley open in early April. Kids under 4 and dogs are not allowed.
- Plan high trails for later: For Bachalpsee, the Eiger Trail or the Männlichen–Kleine Scheidegg panoramic trail, we recommend June to mid-October, see Best time to visit.
- Check trail conditions: In spring, trails can still be snowy or closed because of avalanche or rockfall risk. Follow the signs on site.

Yes, if you want to ski in early April or visit the Jungfraujoch at winter prices. The Männlichen gondola doesn't run from 05.04.2027 until the summer start, and higher hiking trails are often still snowy.
