What data we process
When you contact us by form, email or WhatsApp, we process the details you give us (name, email, phone number, date, number of guests, message) solely to answer your request and organise your experience. To run the activity, we pass the necessary details to the respective provider, who processes them under its own responsibility.
Partner sign-up
If you sign up as a partner, we process your company and contact details and the information on your offer, permits and insurance in order to assess and carry out a partnership.
Hotel code
If you reach the website via a partner hotel's link or QR code, we store the hotel's code in your browser's storage (localStorage) for up to 30 days and send it with your request. This lets the hotel receive a referral commission. The hotel only receives the details needed for billing.
Hosting and forms
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (USA). Netlify processes technical access data (e.g. IP address, time) and stores the details sent via the forms. Data may be transferred to the USA, based on recognised safeguards such as the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Requests and emails are processed by our email providers, including Microsoft (Outlook, USA). Data may also be transferred to the USA in this case.
If you contact us via WhatsApp, your messages are processed by WhatsApp (Meta Platforms), including in the USA. WhatsApp's privacy terms also apply.
Weather display
For the weather display, your browser fetches weather data directly from MET Norway (api.met.no). Your IP address is transmitted to MET Norway in the process. We receive no data from this.
Travel assistant (chat)
The travel assistant looks for answers in the content of this website. The search runs in your browser. Your input is not sent to us or third parties and is not stored.
Partner programmes (affiliate) and Travelpayouts
On the homepage and the guide pages we embed a script from Travelpayouts (travelpayouts.com). It recognises links to travel providers such as GetYourGuide, Viator, Airalo, Trip.com or Omio and turns them into partner links. Technical data such as IP address, device, browser and clicks may be transmitted to Travelpayouts, also abroad, and cookies or similar technologies may be used. We do not use the script on offer and booking pages, on the partner, proposal and group pages or on the legal pages. If you click a partner link and book there, we receive a commission. Your price stays the same. From the click onwards, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies, for example Travelpayouts, GetYourGuide, Viator, Yesim, Stay22, DiscoverCars or Bergfreunde.
Our place guides («Things to do in …») and some planning pages also embed an accommodation map from Stay22 (stay22.com). As soon as you scroll to the map, your browser loads it from Stay22. Technical data such as IP address, device and browser is then sent to Stay22, also abroad.
Recipients: Travelpayouts is operated by Go Travel Un Limited in Hong Kong, Stay22 by Stay22 Technologies Inc. in Canada.
Cookies and browser storage
For our own functions we use no cookies and no analytics tools. In your browser's storage we only keep your search details for the current session (sessionStorage) and, where applicable, the hotel code. Fonts are loaded from our own server. For the Travelpayouts script on the guide pages, see the section «Partner programmes».
If you choose a different currency, we store this setting in your browser's storage (localStorage). The exchange rates are stored on our server, so your browser does not contact any third party for them.
Retention
We delete requests once they are no longer needed for organising your experience or legal obligations.
Your rights
You can request access, correction or deletion of your data at any time: info@grindelwaldexperiences.ch.
You can object to processing and request your data in a common format. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). Guests from the EU also have the rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies and can contact the supervisory authority in their country.
