Crowds: when it gets busy

Peak season July and August: holiday time in many countries. According to the Jungfrau Railways, 1,056,600 guests visited the Jungfraujoch and 760,000 visited First in 2025.
Reservation: According to jungfrau.ch, a seat reservation for the Jungfraujoch is mandatory again in 2027 from 1 May to 31 October. Do not leave the Jungfraujoch to the last minute on a summer weekend.
Go early: The first lifts in the morning are quieter. According to jungfrau.ch, the Good Morning Ticket again gives a discount on one of the first 2 connections from 1 May to 31 October 2027 (the website states 20% and 15%).
Quieter: June and September. In June there can still be snow higher up, September is often a good time for hiking, see Best time to visit Grindelwald.
